Although the majority of these resources are tailored to meet the needs of the broader community in Canada (adults, youth, children, and families), a smaller subset of these resources are tailored to specific occupational groups — including public safety personnel (PSP), health care providers (HCP), military members and Veterans — as well as to equity-deserving groups like Indigenous populations, BIPOC communities, and LGBTQ2SIA+ individuals.

Founded in 1977 by bereaved parents who developed support programs at Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Founders Margaret Darte, Marilyn Lee, Diane Oakes Foster and Irene Clarfield received Ontario Medal of Good Citizenship in 1998. Programs facilitated by trained volunteers who are themselves bereaved, creating peer-to-peer support model. Services include support groups for bereaved parents, children who have lost a parent/sibling/caregiver, people whose partners have died, and others in need of grief support. Safe, non-judgmental environment for discussing experiences and learning about grief with others who have been there. Facilitators walk grief journey with participants, providing light in darkness. Over 1,000 volunteers contribute annually to helping healing begin. Nine affiliates located throughout Ontario provide local support. Programming available in both official languages through Ottawa affiliate, with translation services for other languages. Volunteer health professionals support facilitators and advise on programs. Overseen by board of directors comprised of dedicated volunteers. Strong community spirit and commitment from volunteers and staff.
